Funding Agreement SignedFeb 14 2018
Great Western Academy is delighted to announce that the Education Funding Agreement has been signed today by the Department for Education.
This marks significant progress in the
pre-opening phase of the Academy due to open in September 2018.
Currently under construction in Tadpole Garden Village in North Swindon, GWA is due to open with Year 7 and Year 12 students and will provide much needed secondary school places in the north of Swindon. Plans are progressing well towards the opening of the school including the construction of the building, due to be completed in July and the recruitment of the Senior Leadership Team and Lead Teachers in English, Mathematics and Science with further recruitment of teachers and support staff ongoing.
Parents of Year 7 children will find out from the Local Authority which secondary school they have been allocated on 1st March 2018 and the signing of the funding agreement before this date allows for firm offers of a place for up to 150 children.
Andrew Wild, Chair of Governors for GWA met with the Department for Education earlier today says “I am very pleased to sign the Education Funding Agreement for Great Western Academy, this provides confirmation of the good work that has been carried out on the project to date and is welcome news to parents who have applied for a place for September”.
The new facilities will also provide new post-16 provision for students considering where to continue their study and applications can still be made for Year 12 for September. Further information and how to apply can be found on our website at www.gwacademy.co.uk or by contacting the school at firstname.lastname@example.org.
