At Great Western Academy, Care is at the heart of everything that we do. We strongly believe that you cannot achieve to the best of your ability or show how excellent you can be, without being expertly cared for.

We are strong because we care. We understand that we can only achieve excellence when we care for others, receive care from others and care for ourselves.

We believe students should benefit from the care of professionals to ensure they can lead successful lives. We strive to support the needs of all learners through our work with key stakeholders and support services.

We believe in the power of belonging. All students will belong to a tutor group and a house system where the importance of collaboration, tolerance, respect, care are modelled and shaped.

We believe in the importance of the student/staff/parent triangle and will always look to include and inform parents in supporting and challenging our students to aim high.

We believe in kindness and dedication. Our simple mantra - ‘work hard, be kind’ - underpins our ethos of care.

As one of our key stakeholders, it is of the utmost importance that parents and carers are engaged across the whole spectrum of school life. This is implemented through a number of different ways:

Parents have access to see all the assessments related to their child, this includes formative grades for effort and achievement.

Parents are able to contact their child's tutor and are welcome into school to discuss their child's wellbeing. If you wish to contact your child's tutor - please email office@gwacademy.co.uk ensuring your child’s name and tutor group are in the subject line.

Regular parents' evenings are held.
A regular series of "Support for Families" sessions runs, covering topics such as Internet Safety, Supporting Learning, SEND provision, the School Curriculum and much more.

We will encourage parents who want to share their skills and expertise to offer enrichment activities, whether as one-off events or as a series of sessions.
